Now that the Final Four has left the building, the city of Minneapolis is getting ready to roll out the welcome mat again with the inaugural Doors Open Minneapolis on Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.  Comcast is proud to be the presenting sponsor of this civic celebration.

The weekend-long event will provide the public with free, behind-the-scenes access to 110+ unique venues throughout Minneapolis. From historic buildings presenting stories of the past, to the newest creations blazing a trail into the future, visitors will be able to tailor their Doors Open experiences by visiting sites organized around a variety of different themes.

“Our city is home to some of the most spectacular architecture anywhere in the nation – through Doors Open Minneapolis, we’ll highlight it,” said Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. “Minneapolis is home to some of the most forward-looking innovative community leaders in the nation – Doors Open Minneapolis will offer opportunities to get to know them.”

Frey added, “Most of all, I cannot wait to partner with people from all across Minneapolis to tell our city’s story.”

Comcast saw the Doors Open Minneapolis partnership as a perfect fit in collaboration with the company’s efforts across the city and throughout the region.

“Comcast is excited to be the presenting sponsor of this fantastic celebration for a world-class city—a city that is a vibrant, dynamic place for people to work, live and play,” said J.D. Keller, regional senior vice president, Comcast Twin Cities. “As the city’s leading technology provider, we’re committed to the success of our communities, today and into the future.”

Keller added, “Doors Open Minneapolis is all about connecting people to each other, to the city and all it has to offer, and it’s the same at Comcast. We connect people, businesses and the community to what matters most to them.”

In addition to its sponsorship support, Comcast will provide mobile device charging stations at a variety of Doors Open Minneapolis locations to help keep visitors powered up during the event. Partner businesses include Hewing Hotel, Surly Brewing and Woodchuck.

Nearly 1,000 volunteer greeters will be needed at participating venues throughout the weekend to ensure a great experience. To learn more about the many opportunities, or to view a list of participating venues, visit here.
