Online home monitoring systems have made it incredibly easy to keep tabs on pets while away. In fact, survey results released by Comcast show 44% of pet owners checking in on their furry friends four times a day or more, with nearly 2 in 5 (38%) taking a peek at their pet(s) during work hours. Perhaps not surprisingly, 94% say checking in on their pet is one of the best parts of their day.

To make it easier for Xfinity customers to keep tabs on their pets, Comcast has launched a new ‘pet filter’ feature on its Xfinity Camera utilizing artificial intelligence technology. The filter allows users to quickly sort through hours of footage to identify the specific clips featuring their pets. As a result, users spend less time searching through raw footage and more time enjoying their pets.

The monitoring survey also found nearly 75% of those checking in on their pets do so while on vacation and whenever possible, while a whopping 84% reported sharing video clips of their pet(s) on social media platforms. That may explain why more than two-thirds of respondents say they check in on their pet(s) more often than using social media to catch up with family and friends.

The survey was commissioned by Comcast and conducted by Wakefield Research; click here for more results and information about the Xfinity pet filter.
